Euro Car Parks parking ticket

Hi all.
I was wondering if somebody could help, I parked in this car park from 19:40 to 21:15 on a Friday. I went up to read the sign but I misread it and on the left where it says between 9:00 and 17:00 I took it to mean as the charges were only applied during those times!
It turns out I actually owed £3.00, of course I would've paid this if I had known! Reading the sign properly and its obvious but unfortunately I didn't at the time!
I have had a look down the forum and read the newbie thread but it is a lot of info to take in and I wanted to make sure I was doing things correctly hence why I've posted here first!
What is the best course of action to take in this scenario? Do I have any grounds to appeal? I am eternally grateful for anyone who offers me advice!

#1 in the newbies FAQ thread shows you when to appeal and what to say in the appeal0

That's one of the wordiest signs we've seen in years. Had to search it for the £100 and as usual the tariffs are in larger/bold font, the penalty hidden in small print.
Anyway, everyone is politely directed to the NEWBIE thread because no cases are different at appeal stage; they are a BPA firm, so play the game as instructed in the sticky.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That's their standard sign. In their rejection letter they send you a stock photo they have taken standing in front of this sign - but not from the driving seat. It's even more obscure and unclear.0
