How often to submit meter readings?

So we are finally in our new house and changed our meters from the prepayment that we inherited to a standard credit meter.

I have direct debits set up for both electric and gas and assume they estimate the bills? If I submit more often meter readings I assume again that our bills and payments will be more accurate?

So my question is how often should I submit meter readings online? Is every month too much or not enough?

Thanks,

Jack

I try to do once a month, if I remember.

I do ours once a month on the same date, though of course I wouldn't be worried about doing it a week either side of that if I was away for example.

And keep your own records on a simple spreadsheet.

I've submitted mine monthly for years now with no problems. In fact my biggest problem seems to be the opposite of most peoples. They keep trying to reduce my DD when I know it should not go lower. I've finally decided it is better in my account than their's. But I do keep it "saved" for when I know it will be needed.

    Yes, monthly is ideal.

Keep your own spreadsheet as well so you can monitor your consumption and keep an eye on what you are using and when. You'll be able to see how any you energy saving measures are doing and if anything seems to be going awry.
