BT - Ending TV contract, but keeping TV box

Just thought i would share an experience i had with BT recently.
I renewed my contract for standard BB and phone, removing TV essentials as i had already a BT HUMAX box for freeview on the understanding that the TV box will work still once the contract finished.
I was on the phone yesterday to BT, as i was still paying for the TV service which i stopped. I asked them to clarify whether the TV box would work once i stopped paying, their response was that none of the features, i.e. Freeview, recording, pause/rewind, or catch up via iplayer etc would work. I asked them to check. They came back and told me that it will work, but they have to tell people that it won't.
Fairly sharp practice, which could mean people are paying for a TV service that will still work once you remove it from your contract.
Anyway, long story short, the TV still works, pause & rewind & players still work, and i've saved £6 per month by stopping paying for the TV essentials. All i've lost is the BT player, which i never used anyway.
