Safe to sell provided routers?

I have one brand new Plusnet router and two BT routers all surplus to requirements. Are these registered to my account or is it safe to give them to a charity shop or sell them please?

You have nothing to lose by trying to sell them but as every ISP provides a router these days and the ones they provide are mediocre quality their value is probably less than the cost of posting.

Many charity shops won't take electrical items as they have to be PAT tested before being offered for sale.

Stand by for lots or posts explaining how to use then as WiFi repeaters.

    Thanks Kwikbreaks.

A quick look on fleabay shows the BT home hub 6 might be worth selling, the Plusnet one probably not.

Yes, I think that you are right about the charity shop not taking electrical items, I have a vague memory of being turned down in the past.

I really don't need a wifi repeater (or so I found out after googling to see what one was:D). I'm in a small bungalow and the BT home hub 6 which I have seems to cover all areas.

    Quick search on eBay...

You don't have to return it, but selling won't necessarily raise a lot. I recycled my last router at the tip in the small electricals bin. Some charity shops take them, but not many.
So, yes, might as well send them back for free....;)

Thanks. This would probably be the most honest way to go. Due to BT's incompetence, they managed to send out THREE home hubs to me. I tried phoning CS, after an endless wait, I finally got through to an advisor who told me they'd arrange for the return of the surplus hubs. This was over five months ago and I've yet to hear from them! :(

The BT HH's might not be worth selling but if you've got the openreach fibre modem then you could get a good few quid (between £20 and £40 on the bay of fleas...) ;)

The modem is a re-badged Huawei EchoLife H612 FTTC VDSL modem. It can be easily re-flashed to stock Huawei firmware and is actually a nice little unit (if you don't require your modem to have WiFi.) ;), so this and a good quality Wifi router and you're set!

BT firmware just removed 99% of the web interface, loading BT network compatible setting files, as well as adding a remote firmware checking and update script.

Not sure I understand but the BT hubs are home hub 6 and we have the open reach here so I guess these are what you mean. So they are not somehow prelinked to my account?

oh if it's the HH6's then you wont have the separate modem.

Those were usually given out to Fiber customers if they had a HH3 or sometimes HH5.
