Hello MSE!
in 2014 i got my self a Juke Nismo RS on 3 year pcp and over those years I've had a good few problems, I'll list them.
1st was the promise of the salesman to give me what ever car he was driving at the time when my car was in for a service, this never happened and i could never get in touch with them
2nd i wasn't ever told about the mileage limit on my PCP, my mother was there when i sorted it all out it was never mentioned and honestly i can't find it in my documentation but, i have no doubt it will be there somewhere and i understand this is my fault as well.
Now the main stuff.
3rd not long after i got my car one of the speakers sounded horrible when the music was turned up above 50%, they had the car in the garage at least 3 times to fix it but could never find the cause, I argued with the service manager on the phone because he claimed it was the type of music i was listening too and or the quality of the speakers, but i explained to him I've had the same speakers in my last juke and they were fine, plus the other speakers would sound like that if it was the quality or the music, not just the one in the drivers door, He then told me on the phone a few weeks later that they have been in touch with Nissan and have been told they are aware of the issue and have been told not to do anything... !!!!!! makes no sense, i work in the factory so i sent my friend over to ask the supervisor over on door subs if they are aware of any problems and he said so.
At this point i emailed trading standards and also started a complaint, when i spoke to the service manager again he was stumbling over his own words, was pretty funny, Anyways the next time they had the car in it was fixed! they padded the door with foam and torqued up all the screws and bolts. Sorted
4th when i give them my car to get serviced i got it back with a damaged window trim (Deep gouges) they told me to book it back in and they would fix it, i give it to them twice to get this fixed and i just got the car back with nothing done to it, i had to pay taxi fairs back home after dropping my car off too!
5th I was hearing some strange noises coming from behind my pedals followed by 3 warning lights that would stay on for hours/days. The traction control, blind spot warning, lane departure warning orange light would all stay on and none of the systems would work, i explained this on the sheet i handed in (i work at Nissan and we fill in sheets to book our cars in while we are at work) i also explained the traction control would kick in when it shouldn't.
when i got the car back all i got on the sheet given to me by the mechanic was ( Traction control fault due to cheap tyres) it made me laugh, sure that's the reason 3 of my systems go offline and i get some strange vibrations and twangs coming from behind my pedals.
5th and final straw, the missing service i have just found out about, the 2016 service was missed even though i booked it in for a service and they had the car but they just give it a health check and replaced a steering bush, I am currently in dispute with them over this as i don't know if it's the fault of the lady as personnel at Nissan where i work or if it's Evan Halshaws fault, I've got proof what i wrote on the sheet as i got an email from the lady i booked my car in with at work, she emailed me saying the reg was wrong, She put a N instead of a B which are right next to each other on the keyboard, i didn't see this email and the car still went in so i assumed they noticed their mistake. on the sheet is clearly says service.
So now my car is worth a little less because of this, like i said earlier i don't know who's fault it was, the lady at work who booked it in with Evan Halshaw or... Evan Halshaw, they said it wasn't booked in with them as a service only a repair (The Steering Bush i also wrote on the sheet)
The car is due to go back in December and was told as of today my car is worth 10800 and my finance is 12800 so I'm in neg equity too!
Last time i buy a brand new car.
Do you guys think its worth getting legal advice for some compensation or not? i would love it if they would just put their hands up and say we fooked up a few times, we will just give you 12800 for your car and that's my finance payed off.
Thanks guys sorry for bad grammar and bad spelling hope you can read it.

Look up voluntary termination of a PCP contract.
If you hand the car back in November in good condition they can't hold you to the mileage limit.
You will surely have paid over 50% by month 35 of 36.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The mileage limit will be in the agreement that you signed. As the mileage on a car has a direct impact on its residual value, and therefore your monthly payment, I don't see how you would not expect this be part of the agreement.Nipplehead wrote: »Last time i buy a brand new car.
You didn't. Effectively you rented it. I am not a fan of PCP deals for that very reason.Nipplehead wrote: »Do you guys think its worth getting legal advice for some compensation or not?
I doubt it. I am sure that the agreement is watertight. In addition, a court is not going to listen to any claimed agreements based on your conversations with the salesman as these will be considered hearsay. If you can get the car back early to avoid the excess mileage charges as advised above then that is probably the best outcome you can hope for.0 -
Out of interest what's the relevance of you working for Nissan ? Is this a discounted employee scheme or your own personal 'purchase' (PCP). I'm also struggling on how the servicing works and how you didn't know that your car hadn't been serviced.
Not quite sure why you're expecting compensation for not being on the ball.
a) You signed the PCP agreement (including the mileage agreed)
b) You had the ability to challenge at the time re taking taxis etc at your cost rather than the dealer giving you a courtesy car/transport
c) You believed a salesman re giving you his car :rotfl:
If you want to seek legal advice then go ahead but I'd be wary of doing anything legal against my employer (as I would in publishing what you've said on here)0 -
So now my car is worth a little less because of this
It's on PCP, just hand it back for the GFV (guaranteed final value). I assume you don't want to actually keep it.2nd i wasn't ever told about the mileage limit on my PCP,
Are you over it? It's highly likely that there's a bit of paper somewhere that you've signed, mentioning this limit.
If you're over your mileage limit, I'd just want to be handing back for the GFV, with no penaly for the extra mileage (if it's not mental!). The hassle you've had with the car and the dealer would be offset against it, and it would come out as a draw.
Lesson learnt - All PCP/PCH has mileage limits, find out what they are before signing.0 -
Is the GFV not voided by the ammount of miles ive went over? by the time i hand it back it would of done 30k and my limit was 6k a year, wouldnt the GFV be voided because i went over the limit?
I understand what everyone is saying completely.
Ive been abit of an idiot0 -
The answer in post 2 looks like the best solution for you. Take a look at what they charge for excess milage and do the maths. I suspect they charge a fair bit.0
-
they want 900 quid for the milage.
I'm taking a loan out to pay off the finance on the car, then im trading my car into another garage to buy another one.
I think thats the action im going to take because im in neg equity of nearly 2000 atm and i dont want another PCP deal or a new car.0 -
If you are buying the car then the excess mileage won't matter to them. It will only affect the value you get when you trade it in.0
-
Wait what? There's a NISMO version of the Juke? That's the funniest thing I've heard all week.0
-
It has red mirrors
Still assembled in Sunderland, out of old Clio parts thoughI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
