Hi there
Where the beading at the edges of my laminate floor joins at the outward corners, it has swollen and peeled. Is there such a thing as corner protectors, or something to do the trick?

Don't get them wet. I'm not sure how you'd protect them before they get wet. I guess you could varnish the ends before laying to try and form a seal. They're made of mdf or suchlike - just fibres and easy to soak. On an outward corner they're bound to get knocked by brooms & hoovers, mops and steamers. The swelling is water getting in.
Beading is really the cheaper way of avoiding the removing and replacing of skirting boards. Skirting boards won't behave like that.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If the external corners were mitred and glued correctly, you shouldn't get any moisture in the join.
If the top layer is peeling, there's nothing you can do now but replace it. When it's replaced, make sure the mitres are done correctly and as a belt and braces approach, you could always smear a very thin bead of clear silicone along the joint.
As doozergirl suggests though - skirting covering the laminate always looks better than beading.0
