British Gas (Matin's deal) inform of my leaving when I haven't switched
My energy club deal from here expires in October. Just had an email from British Gas informing me they are sorry I am leaving and the new supplier will take over 6th Aug. I have absolutely no idea why I have had this message as I didn't make any switch. Too early to phone them so asking here.

At a guess, you are the victim of an 'Erroneous Transfer'
This is where someone else has intitiated a Switch of supplier, but the data has somehow got scrambled in the system.
The rule is that you should be returned to your original supplier and suffer no financial loss - Get onto BG and tell them you have not switched0 -

I suggest you contact them at the earliest opportunity
Phone lines should have opened at 8am according to their website.0 -
It seems to be a national database error getting our postcode mixed up with one a little down the road from us (which happens with deliveries etc) as the address is similar BUT the last digit of the postcode is different. They have assured me it's not going to change and they have put in an objection to the switch.0

I don't believe this. After reassurance via a few phone calls that my tarrif will not be closed and the mix up with the database has been corrected, I get another email this evening confirming my account will be closed on 8th Sept and my new supplier will take over Which of course I didn't instigate.

E-mail them and demand that they implement the Charter for Erroneous Transfers. Trying to sort out matters like this over the phone is a futile exercise.
