My ex was financially incontinent so used to set up savings accounts, credit cards and then give me the cards/details to hide*.
Maybe do the same with Mr/s LLHD?
*Although my ex was also sexually incontinent so I ditched the Manbaby (perhaps some self discipline would be a better plan for you).0 -
As someone said previously, are you sure you've minimised all your bills? ie are you on the best possible broadband, mobile, energy deals. Are you paying for stuff you don't use? i.e. do you get 500 free minutes with your mobile contract and only use 100?
As someone else also said you should try to get enough money to pay 3-6 months of bills in an instant access account. This can be a high interest current account. You can have more than one high interest account so use one for day to day spending and one for saving. Keep only how much you need for the month in your day to day account and send £100 (or whatever you think you can save) to your other account*. If you don't want to spend from that savings account just change the pin number on the card when you get it and put the card in a drawer.
After that then maybe open a high interest regular saver (these often come attached to the better current accounts). But if you manage not to touch the money in the current account you've shown that you can be disciplined and perhaps you don't need a regular saver.
*note the terms on high interest accounts often require a direct debit or two and a minimum pay-in0
