Displaying discount voucher in stead of ticket? Any advice as got penalty charge note

Options
Hi. I have received a Penalty Charge Notice for not displaying valid parking ticket on a council run carpark. It is technically correct as I had displayed a discount voucher and given the ticket to the attraction to get the discount! The two looks very similar and I noted a lot of other motorists had been given PCN as well.

I feel it is unfair as I did pay for parking and displayed a ticket.

The two are almost identical and both have the time and date written in big letters. When I have been on other car parks the voucher is usually a different colour paper/ different graphics so easier to spot.

I did ask kindly and managed to get my ticket back so have both ticket and voucher. What would be the best way of approaching the council? Has anyone else had the same experience problem? Did you have any success?

Thank you

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Pepipoo is the best place for advice on proper council tickets

  • Thank you. I have now found the ticket after my holiday. It is code 73 which is "Parked without payment of the parking charge" and the fine amount is £50 (or £25 if I pay within 14 days).

    Any advice?

    Thank you.

As Quentin says, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work) and post a new thread; here's your link:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
