Probably a stupid selling question...

We have agreed the sale of our flat and are due to complete in a few weeks. We don't have anywhere else lined up so will be moving in with parents temporarily. My question is...our completion date is the same date of the month where we normally pay the mortgage - will that payment still be taken or not?

    Check your mortgage redemption statement to see whether it includes that payment or not.

    If in doubt, call the lender.

    Or cancl the payment. If it was due I expect they'll contact you for the money.......

    Normally not as the solicitor will have asked for a redemption statement as at completion date which will not take any future payments due into account. I would double check with lender but cancel direct debit.

    For the avoidance of doubt, if you overpay then the lender will send you the money back pretty quickly (possibly via your solicitor), so other than the cashflow it shouldn't be a huge concern.
  • Thanks all. I assumed the solicitor would handle all of that but wasn't 100% sure.
