    Hellboy 2

With a signature blend of action, humour and character-based spectacle, the saga of the world’s toughest, kitten-loving hero from Hell continues to unfold in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Bigger muscle, badder weapons and more ungodly villains arrive in an epic vision of imagination from Oscar®-nominated director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy).

After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it’s time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).

    50 FOOT OPEN-AIR SCREENING

Bullitt (Peter Yates, 1968, certificate 15)
A contemporary classic starring legendary actor Steve McQueen, Bullitt is widely credited with setting the scene for the 1970s police thriller genre. The central car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco is regarded as one of the most influential car chases in cinema history.

Rendezvous (a.k.a. C'etait un rendezvous, Claude LeLouche, 1976)

    Two-Lane Blacktop

    When:
    20:30 Fri Aug 15

    Where:
    The Serpentine, Kensington Gardens, W2

    50 FOOT OPEN-AIR SCREENING

    Much-loved cult ’70s road movie

Musicians James Taylor and Dennis Wilson, in their only notable film roles, play The Driver and The Mechanic, a pair of shiftless machine heads drifting from town to town in search of drag-race thrills. Their nemesis arrives in the form of Warren Oates’ sleazy GTO, who challenges our slacker heroes to a cross-country race. The prize: their treasured automobile.

Like the visual recreation of a bleak early Springsteen song, ‘Two Lane Blacktop’ uses the highways and dirt roads of North America as the backdrop to a plotless, beautifully stylised drama.
