    GARAYEV Leyli & Mejnun

GARAYEV Way of Thunder: General Dance, Girls Dance With Guitars, Night on Veldt, Scene & Duet, Way of Thunder

A rare opportunity to hear works by Gara Garayev (1918-1982), one of the most prominent composers to emerge from Azerbaijan. A pupil of Shostakovich, his music displays a synthesis of a non-western musical idiom with Western form and harmony. Internationally celebrated violinist Gidon Kremer is a Gara Garyev enthusiast and proponent of music of the former Soviet Union, and joins conductor Christopher Warren-Green and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to present highlights from Garayev?s ballets and symphonic works including the Way of Thunder, Don Quixote, Leyli & Majnun and his Violin Concerto. The programme also features a specially commissioned short film on Garayevs life and is possibly the first performance of his work in the West, certainly in London.

Weds 3rd March Matinee 14:30 - Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

To receive tickets: Unfortunately we have had too many 'no shows' for matinee performances. Therefore we we would request you check your diary to see if you can attend this performance, and if you can and would like ticket, please email request to Feedback@seefilmfirst.com heading the email: Waiting for Godot. We will let you know by Tuesday if you have been allocated tickets.

    Starring SIR IAN MCKELLEN
Two old friends meet to converse, joke and argue with themselves as they wait through one day and then another for the mysterious Godot...the combination of music hall, poetry and tension redefined what is possible in theatre, so that today Waiting for Godot is accepted as one of the most significant plays of the 20th century.

When Samuel Beckett's play exploded on to the London stage 50 years ago, it shocked as many people as it delighted. There had never been a play like it; indeed it was said that: "(Beckett) has achieved a theoretical impossibility-a play in which nothing happens, that yet keeps audiences glued to their seats."
In a year rich with diverse drama Sean Mathias's 2009 production for the Theatre Royal Haymarket matched the success of the London premiere and proved one of the most successful plays of the season (indeed of any season) and broke all box office records for both the play and the theatre.
After a sold out national tour and an extended run in the West End, the Haymarket revives the production, again directed by Sean Mathias with Ian McKellen and Ronald Pickup returning to their memorable roles as Estragon and Lucky.
The highly acclaimed and award-winning actors, Roger Rees and Matthew Kelly now join them as Vladimir and Pozzo.

We have a few tickets left for special previews in cinemas around the country on Tuesday, 2nd March, before it opens nationwide on March 26th.

    About the Film

Oscar ® Nominated and Golden Globe Winner, Sandra Bullock ("The Proposal") stars in Oscar Nominated "The Blind Side," which depicts the remarkable true story of All-American football star Michael Oher. Teenager Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock). Learning that the young man is one of her daughter's classmates, Leigh Anne insists that Michael -- wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the dead of winter -- come out of the cold. Without a moment's hesitation, she invites him to stay at the Tuohy home for the night. What starts out as a gesture of kindness turns into something more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds.

Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. And as the family helps Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field, Michael's presence in the Tuohys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.

The film is a 12a Certificate
