Synopsis
Winner of seven French academy awards - the critically acclaimed Seraphine is the incredible true story of one the Twentieth centurys greatest artists - Seraphine Louis. In the early 1900s Seraphine worked as a cleaner in Senlis, a small town outside Paris and for many years would paint by night in secret until her work was eventually discovered by a German art collector and brought to public attention, however Seraphine would struggle for the rest of her life with her gift and the success that it would bring her. 6.30pm: Azerbaijani Gala Concert. The opening part of the concert will showcase traditional dances performed by the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble, founded in 1970. Having performed across the world, this troupe is renowned for its exemplary choreography, vibrancy and athleticism. Dances will be interspersed by traditional music performed by a mix of experienced masters and child prodigies.
Baku (capital of Azerbaijan) has gained a worthy reputation as a vibrant jazz city. And now, London audiences have a rare chance to experience one of the city?s leading bands Bakustic Jazz. Specialising in a heady form of ethnojazz, the quartet is led by the distinguished pianist and composer Salman Gambarov.
