Car Insurance - Freedom Of Information

On car insurance what is available/visible to ANPR's?

Is it merely if the car is insured & what names are insured on the vehicle? Or is there a whole load of information that gets brought up on the computer screen?

I am not too sure how comfortable I would feel with all of ones information being shown on any database in any walk of life at the ready -

Many Thanks,

Who's ANPR cameras are the referring to, those operated by the Police, DVLA or private parking companies?

Police can see whether a vehicle is insured or not, taxed or not or MOTd or not in a quick passing spot check. It is only in a stop when requesting further information that they can find out who is named on the policy.

I would assume the information shown depends on who is looking. Different authorities will have access to different information.

    Thanks for your response.

I heard a while back that there were changes and that all police cars/anpr's can see on their computer screen:

who is insured to drive THAT vehicle
    if THAT vehicle has insurance
    the driver's licence number
    their D.O.B's
    etc....

    unless all that was hearsay...

The police car doesn't see anything and the anpr only sees a number plate.
