Hi,

Last week we received a parking ticket from Corporate services whilst visiting a woodland park.
We arrived in the car park at around 1.45pm. Parked up, got my 2 year old son out of the car and proceeded to the ticket machine, only to find that it was out of order. The notice on the machine said to use the ticket machine in the car park! Having never been there before I (with my disabled son) proceeded to walk around the car park looking for said ticket machine. While doing this I also came across two other families doing exactly the same thing!
After we all had done 2 laps of the car park, and the other two families just deciding to leave as it was starting to rain I tried to find someone to ask. 10 minutes later with the weather worsening and not being able to find ANYONE to ask we made the decision not to completely waste our 35 mile journey and gp for a quick walk.
Half an hour later we returned to the vehicle and were horrified to find a 'parking ticket'. I looked at the other vehicles parked around me and none had tickets or parking tickets and still no one around to ask!!

When we got home I appealed against the ticket straight away by email (probably the wrong thing to do so soon after reading other forums on here) as we were so angry!

Today I have received email back and basically an automated reply saying that my appeal has been rejected and to pay up!
We still have no idea where this other ticket machine is as they never answered any of my questions in my appeal! I took pictures of the 'out of service' ticket machine and said car park.

Please can anyone help with my next steps in this appeal......straight to POPLA?

Many thanks

Did the machine / sign have a phone number to call if it was out of order ?

There was a photo on the thread last month of a woodland car park with a hidden P&D machine, might not be the same place but this reminded me of that thread (no idea whose).

Anyway, POPLA is done by putting together the template appeal points from the NEWBIES thread post #3, then show us your draft, like everyone else does. Add in wording about there being no other pay and display machine visible at all, and that several other visitors were having the same problem, following the instruction on the broken machine and searching for the 'other' one that appears not to have existed.

Don't appeal to POPLA without first showing us your draft and reading & using the templates from the NEWBIES thread.

No it just said to 'use the machine in the woodland car park'.

Thanks all for your help. I'll get a draft written up for POPLA for you to view, hopefully on the weekend.

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal the driver.

The ppcs monitor this forum and can your posts against you

Edit your op to remove details of who was driving

Good advice usually but it seems from first post it may be a bit late if op has given out who was driving in initial appeal.

If not, then do as Question advises.

Yes I stupidly appealed it straight away and basically admitting I was the driver. So annoyed with myself.

Can anyone help with my POPLA appeal....I literally don't know where to start. I've looked at the POPLA appeal forms from MSE but nothing seems right for my case! Sorry but this is all very new to me!
Also what do you think my chances of winning are with POPLA?
    Thanks in advance
