A friend got a bill for £36 out of the blue from a company saying they had taken over the ground rent and were collecting for the previous 6 years. It all turned out to be legit despite this weird company using a gmail address for correspondence! Again , in Manchester.0

Following probate we sold my mum's house and found the same. The buyers wanted us to pay for an indemnity insurance (£150 or so) in case they were billed for the unpaid rent charge (6 shillings pa!). We instructed our solicitor to get the buyer's solicitor to explain the facts of life to the buyer!
Never heard any more about it.0
