Repairing running jacket

Options
Cleaning lady has put my favourite running jacket in the tumble dryer. This appears to have melted the glue around the hem which held in the drawstring? with a flap of material.

The jacket is a breathable Goretex like material with the flap a very thin mataterial.

Anyone have any repair ideas?

I'm afraid I can't picture what you mean but I'm guessing sewing is out of the question? What about a fabric glue?

I suggest re-gluing it. Superglue? Copy sex? Sorry. My tablet has a filthy mind. I actually typed c.o.p.y.d.e.x.

If glueing is not appropriate what about Wunderweb?

Thanks for the reply... no the seams aren't sewn but "welded" according to the literature.

I was thinking of some sort of fabric glue that was suitable for Gore-Tex but Google isn't being very helpful can you suggest/recommend anything?

As the jacket is no longer available I don't want to ruin it.
    Thanks

Mister C J says that you used to be able to get a patch, a bit like a cycle tyre repair patch, to repair cagoules and the like. You peel off the backing, put it on the inside of the material and apply a clamp or heavy weight overnight. Trouble is, it doesn't last long as it peels off after a while and you can't sew it on as that stops the Goretex being waterproof. He thinks you might be able to get it professionally repaired, maybe ask at your local running gear shop.

You can't sew Gore-tex as the needle will leave holes that will let water in. You can buy self-adhesive repair kits but they don't last long at all, they're more for temporary repairs on the go. The kits that you can buy that come with 'glue' are much better but you do have to follow a process - for example, you need to clean the fabric with some alcohol first to make sure it's absolutely clean and grease free. However, like CJ says it might be better to look into a professional repair, it won't be cheap but it should be guaranteed for a certain period.

Have a look at McNett products on Amazon. They make repair tape and glue for tents and outdoor equipment. You don't necessarily have to buy off there but the reviews might help you decide if one of their products is what you need.
Did yourcleaning lady also wash the jacket. If she used normal laundry detergent you might also meet to reproof it.

You might have some luck with the free image hosting sites. Is this one any good?
