But the real PITA is that, like a lot of countries with a minor currency, they price stuff like hotel rooms etc in Euros. I don't mean as a guide, the Euro amount is what you're contracted for and they convert it to Kuna when you pay. So you have to think in 3 currencies and checking bills is harder. Plus you're not sure exactly what conversion rate they're going to use.0

mmm, I'll try next time I go out out to eat in my local town and offer Euros and when they say 'sorry madam, we don't accept euros', i'll say 'but surely a sale is a sale'!
I have more sympathy for cruise passengers who will be there only for a few hours, but people staying in the country for 1 week, what's the excuse?
Yes, and if I was the the restaurant manager I'd be happy to take euros at an exchange rate of less than 1:1, pay the bill myself and pocket the difference.
