Just got my annual car insurance renewal quote from current provider Saga.
An astronomical increase of FIFTY %.
I knew insurance has gone up, according to press reports of 11%.
But a 50% increase is absolutely taking the p*ss,
Goodbye Saga insurance forever.

It's not a "rip off" because they are telling you exactly what they are providing and the price it will be. "rip off" doesn't mean expensive or overpriced, it means that you don't get what you pay for.
The renewal price is for people who just let it auto renew and they subsidise the people who shop around.
Each year you should compare prices using multiple comparison sites to see what the best price is that you can get. You can then attempt to haggle with your existing insurance company and if the don't agree to match or beat the price then simply switch to another one.
Even if you had a renewal price with a 11% increase then you should still shop around and not just accept it because you had seen it reported that 11% was the average increase in insurance prices this year.0
