    I would let trading standards know.


    I have had situations like this over many years motoring. Its no different if you want to save a few pounds and have just the break pads changed without the discs. Even if the discs are showing their age but are still safe.


    Exhausts do come in sections. I have had a number of cars where only a section needed repairing. I work in the oil industry and flanges are our bread and butter. They can be little sods at times. Exhaust flanges are exposed to a mix of moisture and heat, moisture and heat. You asked the fitter for a type of repair. If he felt it was not possible then he should have told you. However its hard to say with any definite that they tried in good faith but unfortunate broke the flange in the trying.


    As has been said. A nice picture/video would have helped and wrapped it all up nicely. In cases like this I stick around and watch. This seems to stop "accident's" happening.


    For £35 I would hit them with CC. You have the advantage of it being a large chain and them not turning up.............just saying.
