Eon tariff missing from cheap energy club

I have switched to a newish tariff from Eon.- "cap and track 1 year" but I cannot update my details in the Cheap Energy Club because it does not appear in the relevant drop down nor in the comparison charts.

Are there any plans to fix this?

Hello cmotd and thanks for trying this new tariff.

Cap and Track is a little different from our past tariffs and, at the moment, it doesn't appear on the independent Price Comparison Sites. This includes MSE's Cheap Energy Club.

This tariff uses an impartial third party index to track the market and set the price. We re-price the tariff each day and then take an average every 3 months. Consequently, we need to make sure the tariff prices can be updated daily through channels like the comparison sites. We're working on a solution and will make an announcement once it's in place but, I'm afraid, I don't have a timeframe yet.

    Hope this explains cmotd.

I am also on this tariff. I moved house, so took on supply with Eon and this was the cheapest tariff with no exit fee.

However I doubt it beats the cheapest on the market. It would be great if it could be added the Cheap Energy Club. Any timescale for this?

Other priorities as just moved in. Would be nice to get a proper comparison with the tariff on a price comparison site.

For my region and my usage (around 3k & 10k electric and gas), it's about £130 a year more than the absolute cheapest Iresa.

A £30 cashback to bring it to £100 more could be enough to tempt me back to E.ON (Willing to pay extra for an actual CS department and re-activating the smart feature on my meters), but there doesn't seem to be much chance of that happening.

Also, although this tariff can go up or down (but not above a given customers sign up price), it's only ever gone up when I've generated a new quote.

Sorry The Reaper. No timescale yet. I asked about this again last week but it's still a work in progress at the moment. Will update this thread once I know more.

    Hello Raxiel.

We re-price our Cap and Track tariff every day so it's likely you'll see a different result each time you do a comparison. Once a customer is on the tariff, though, they won't be impacted by these daily fluctuations. The price they sign up to will be the highest unit rate they'll pay throughout the term of the agreement.

For customers on this tariff, we track the market and review their prices every 3 months. If the average price has gone down, we'll lower their unit rates. As you say, they could also go up but not above the price originally signed up to.

    Hope this explains Raxiel.

    Hi Malc :hello:

In other words, if you are thinking of switching to the Cap and Track tariff, it's worth following everyday, in the hope you catch the rates when or if they fall, from which, they will never go higher.

At the moment my Cap and Track tariff is now more expensive than v12, whilst it was cheaper than v11.

You have to put as much effort in to this as you do with Powershop, if you are willing to 'play the game'. :D

Just as well i don't have to switch right now, but still worth tracking if not capping.

Hello fredandwilma and good to hear from you. :wave:Hope you're okay?

Basically, yes. As we re-price the Cap and Track tariff daily, the quote will change each day. Once on the tariff, though, we do the work and the daily re-prices won't impact the customer. When signed up to this tariff, we review prices every three months and, as above, if the average price has gone down, we'll lower the unit rates. We also let customers know if the unit rate has gone up but it won't go above the original quoted price for the duration of the contract.

Our website is the best place to keep an eye on what's happening with this and other tariffs.

Hope this explains fredandwilma. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.
