balance transfer or not

I applied for a 0% credit card from Halifax as I bank with them & wanted to transfer balance of £5000 from a barclaycard, however the limit of the new card is only £1500 so do i transfer some of barclaycard balance and end up paying 2 cards or do i use new card to pay for groceries/petrol and pay off in full each month to build up my credit rating? I recently just cleared one large debt through a DAS (debt arrangement scheme) so my credit rating is not great and I was pleasantly surprised to get the Halifax card but not sure what to do now that i've got it!!! Any suggestions most welcome.
