Help....! After Moving House...

Can anyone help....? Moved house end of last year...with two small children....new mortgage lender sent our mortgage funds to Solicitors Bank at 4am on the day of completion.....they then subjected those funds to a 'random security check'....they then did not release our money until 6.24pm to our Solicitors account(after close of business on a Friday).... My husband and I then caused 'failure to complete' through no fault of our own...we then had to find emergency accommodation for all four of us, try and rescue clothes and toiletries for us all from the removal vans (which had not been packed in a way to access them easily)... We have had to pay just under £3,000 in costs for everyone further up the chain to cover storage, re-removal, hotel etc.....

Have been to both the Legal & Financial Ombudsman who in their opinion have done nothing wrong... I have discussed at length this situation with Barclays Bank Area Manager explained what this has caused us, and they will not reinburse us any money.... I have tried to email Martin Lewis...but assume they get a lot of emails, so have not heard anything from them...... Am desperate, as can not afford to lose such an amount of money, especially when it is something which is completely out of our control.....

I assume that the random security check was related to the money laundering regulations, if so you have no claim against anyone.

Unfortunately this is bad luck, you would only have a claim if someone had been negligent, which doesn't appear to be the case here.

(it doesn't help you with your current situation, but for future reference you may want to consider completing on a Thursday rather than a Friday, as it can make it easier for issues to be resolved more quickly and reduce any losses)

It is very bad luck and unfortunate for you, but it is not anyone's fault, and therefore there isn't anyone who is liable to reimburse you.
