Don't know what I have done !!! My email in Outlook Express has been working fine, anyway I was trying to do a bit of cut and pasting and now everytime I attempt to send a new email this strange icon appears at the start of the email and when I press enter it then appears again on the next line .
I have tried to copy/cut and paste the icon but it is having one of it so you can see what it looks like ,but basically it looks a bit like either a number 9 or a q with an l next to it ( in comic sans font) also if I attempt to reply to an email then this icon appears all over it along with lots of bendy lines with arrows on the end.
Does anyone know what I have inadvertantly done?
When I send the email though the icon does not show up on the recipients email although it shows up when I am sending!!!

Sounds like the paragraph icon, you probably switched it on by accident. You can get it in Microsoft Word too, I'm not sure how to switch off in Outlook Express but in Word you go to Tools>Options and on the front page of the options window there should be a section called "Formatting Marks" under this section there is an option "Paragraph marks" if you make sure there is NOT a tick in the box next to it they should go away!
Like you said though, they won't show up in the recipient's email, they're just basically so you can see what you're typing!
BTW if you are using Outlook (not outlook express) the process will be exactly the same as the one I outlined for Word, if outlook Express I'm not 100% sure but it should be similar.
HTH!I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -

Are you using Word as your email editor?
If so try starting a new email and then turing of the 'paragraph' icon ( a backward 'p' type shape).Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Thanks for the help, however i was a bit dim at first I was searching everywhere on my main email page ( where inbox is) and not on the page when I actually send the email................. It hasn't taken me this long HONEST I've had friends round rudely interrupting me trying to sort it out ~ LOL:rotfl:
Cheers again, would never have found it otherwise!
