Newbie! DVLA clamp issue

Morning all. I am seeking some advice if ok?
I went to get my car this morning and it had been clamped. I was very shocked as I assumed I was still paying my tax.
I called the clamp people who told me I'd not been taxed since march. I then called the DVLA as payments have been going out still. I was informed that I'd had my dd rejected potentially to insufficient funds on the 6th of June. I then went online and retaxed immediately. I've checked my account and 16.18 did go out on the 1st of June but nothing for July. Firstly I'm mortified as I'm a natural conformist and secondly a bit miffed as neither my bank or the DVLA had notified me.
The DVLA insist they sent an automatic email but I've checked my who inbox and spam etc and there is no correspondence.
I don't get paid till Monday, it's 100 to release the clamp and I'm a single parent of three children.
Has anyone had similar? Do I suck it up or fight it?
Thanks in advance.

The DVLA are having a purge on unpaid vehicle tax.
You have no option but to wait until you get the money to
remove the clamp and pay the tax

This isn't the best forum for your problem - we deal mainly with private parking tickets.
We are a sub-forum of the MSE 'Motoring' forum, where you might get more specific advice. Alternatively, PePiPoo might also be able to help - you will need to register using an email address, but just to let you know that a 'hotmail' address doesn't work.

Hope you can sort this out satisfactorily. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
