Mouldy Shower Seal

I have to carve out the shower seal again, this will be the third time in 3 years. Its becoming a real pain!

We have a walk in shower area. When resealed it stays nice and white for about 6-7 months and then little specs start appearing, then after a few months it spreads.

We keep the window open wide when showering, and use a karcher window vac on the tiles and shower screen after every shower, but still we get it coming back, eventually.

What can we do? :(

Use a good sealant (Dow Cornings etc), and if you're having a lot of issues, consider wiping the sealant with a cloth after a shower. Make sure the water can run off the sealant, and not sit on top.

Bleaching when spots start to appear can keep it at bay for a while longer. I normally reseal every few years.

Wiping down the tiles and sealant afterwards can help.

As above, when spots start to appear bleaching can keep it at bay.

I've made sealant around my old bath look great before by rolling up kitchen roll along the sealant, pouring bleach on it, pressing the kitchen roll right against the sealant and leaving it overnight. The kitchen rolls keeps the bleach on it without it dripping off.
It doesn't completely solve the problem, but i would do that 'deep bleaching' once a year and was easier than replacing the sealant and made it look sparkly again!
