I dont understand why people are os judgemental.
I have a credit card with about £2k on it. Its not a secret, but my Mrs doesnt known about it as far as I am aware.
We have a joint account and so long as I put my share in (which ismore than her share) to cover the bills etc what does it matter?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I have been dealing with our Mortgage application through L&C but West Brom sent the Offer letter addressed to both of us containing a complete copy of the application.
I had nothing to hide but it's worth bearing in mind that a) the lender bypassed L&C (I had to tell them we had received an offer) and b) if its a joint application expect some, if not all of the correspondence to go to both parties.
Aside from all of that, I think you really should be telling your partner these kind of things.0 -
I've seen a lot of people say that they had an offer back but it said providing all debt was cleared or something along those lines. Imagine him finding out at that point, I can imagine it would cause bigger issues. I personally would tell him. There's a chance he might find out and it's better hearing it from you than someone else.0

Also depending on your earnings £3,000 isn't that huge you may be surprised at his reaction0

As someone who managed to build up significantly more that £3k debt without my partner knowing the full details, I can sympathise with your position. Although it caused an almighty argument when it did come out, and she still regularly (justifiably?) brings it up, the relief of her knowing was huge. In my case it wasn't that I wanted to keep it a secret for the sake of it, it was that I was ashamed and hugely embarrassed that I'd accumulated the debt.
In short, tell him- if nothing else you'll feel better for doing so.0 -
In fairness my wife was unaware of the extent of my debt but in the end she got suspicious when I got cagey about a lack of cash to get her hair done, which costs £80 a go but thats a different argument haha.
So I told her and she hit the roof but since then she's been a star. My advice is to avoid any worry and just tell him. You'll feel better for it.0 -

Based on my analysis of her 5 other threads started yesterday, I think she earns 20k which is apparently 'very little', and he earns a lot as he is almost over the threshold for free childcare. Hard to say if 3k means a lot to them or is merely a tip for the waiter...Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long.
