HELP..... How to choose a baby bath????

I don't know if someone has already posted a link for one of these, I had one and found it great for a few months until she outgrew it. It's like a bouncy chair that you sit in the bath. Mine was about £7 from Baby'r'us and could be used in the baby bath or the big bath. The only drawback was the the water needed to be quite shallow so baby can get cold. It leaves you with a free hand for washing baby and is great if you have a baby that doesn't feel secure being held.
BTW...this is a Tummy Tub....so CUTE!Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
A MILLION thanks to all who have posted, think have found something that may do the trick...what are your thoughts on this?

My only other question now is....
HOW do you change them after you have bathed them
Soooooooo many questions........boo hoo
Cheers

I had one of the overbath type with my first,it was brilliant although when it's not in use it's quite bulky to store.
For the las we just opted for the kitchen sink, or in the bath with us option.
The mammas and pappas one looks a bit shallow and could lead to the baby feeling the cold I would have thought.
BTW I want one of those tummy tubs, does it come with those adorable babies;) I've gone all broody again0 -
Dont worry too much about all the details of baby care(I know it's only natural!) but believe me, as soon as baby comes along you just do it and develope whats the best way for you.
The baby bath you've chosen looks o.k ,just wondering how easy it will be to clean, (any tricky crevices in the design) when it gets the inevitable baby poo all over it! After bath time my kids have always loved to get dried with the hair drier(I'm not sure this is realy money saving though!) just be sure it's not too hot.My midwives always advised against talc.0 -

You want to change them when they're covered in poo and they've weed in your eye. You want to change them when they're bawling their heads off at 2 in the morning and nothing you do will stop them. And you ESPECIALLY want to change them when they're 13 and keep hogging the computer.
But you have to keep the one you're given. Sorry, that's the rules.

Hi there
We only used the baby bath for about a month - it was hardly worth it. The best thing you could do is to use a suitable sink but, if that's not practicable, then borrow one.
From there we got a great 'bath chair' from my sister - I don't know where you can get one, but it's at about 45 degrees and is blue plastic with suckers, and has contoured smooth sides that are perfect for the baby to sling their arms over and feet out the front. It is perfect for sitting the baby up in the bath early on. He used that until he was able to sit in the bath... it really is the best thing for your baby from about 1-6 months... anyone know where it comes from?CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -
Mercman,
You've had loads of replies, but I thought I'd stick in my tuppence worth.
We had a baby bath with no.1, but soon discovered he didn't like it & moved onto bathing him in the big bath with one of us. By the time babies 2 & 3 came along, we'd given the baby bath away & only bathed them with us (or in the sink in the case of a covered in poo emergency!). I'd agree with others that if you take them in the bath with you, you need to have someone to pass them into you & take them out for you, especially when they're tiny & wriggly.
If that doesn't appeal, I think using the sink or borrowing a baby bath if possible 'til you get a bit of practice & work out what's best for you would be a smart move. I think your mamas & papas one looks really well designed, but probably is over-priced for the benefits it would bring.
As for bath chairs, I'm not sure I trust the safety of them. I think they give parents a false sense of security & you'd probably be better just holding onto your baby yourself. My nephew had one & managed to tip himself over in it, giving my sister a real fright even though she was right next to him (as you always should be!). After that she returned it to the shop.
I think that there are so many unnecessary baby gadgets that most parents end up wasting a small fortune on things that they hope will make their lives easier & then their babies decide they're not so keen on - our babies decided against the baby bath, the cot, the front-pack, the bottles (& therefore the steam steriliser, the breast pump, the milk storage bags etc!), the hip-carrier, the swimming blow-up thing (I know it has a name, but after 3 kids, can I really be expected to remember everything?!) and I'm sure many more that I choose not to remember for the sake of my sanity! We don't know what kind of parents we're going to be 'til our little people come along & don't know what we'll need to help us 'til we get to that point, so the more you can borrow 'til you work it out for yourselves, the easier it'll be on your wallet!0 -
