Enjoy your day with your DG x
  • successful day pennies wise - not a NSD as needed milk for DGS but "forgot" my purse when visiting oldest DD much easier than saying no.
not pay day until friday but should be able to see what i will be paid in pending tomorrow and be able to get a budget of some sort in place.

thank you all for the lovely welcome. cherry fudge - the wedding is in October.. in Florida. DD has been planning this since she was about 7!!

    Wow- sounds wonderful!

'Forgetting your purse' sounds like a great idea. :D Funny how other people's purchases sneak onto our bills... :rotfl:

  • Managed a NSD. enough odds and ends in the fridge to make a chuck pie with some veg.. and loads left. once upon a time i would never have cooked just for me and just had a sandwich or cereal.

Checked my pending wages and i appear to be getting some tax back at long last, a change of employer in April, same job just someone else got the contract, meant ive been emergency taxed since then.
Done a sort of budget but it relies on OH paying me back what he's borrowed over the last month so i may have to look at it again. Have to pay the balance for the holiday/wedding by mid August also. Have most of it saved but not as much as i wanted to by now and a good chunk will have to come out of this months pay.
Looked at all my outgoing a few weeks ago and cut a lot of things.. £7 for the window cleaner, DS mobile phone contract came to an end £33, water and dual fuel bills reduced - advantages of always being at work and gained about £110 a month. Still paying car insurance and tax monthly as couldnt quite make the annual payments this time around though i think once this wedding is out of the way and will be able to pay it off and reduce the interest if im allowed - im sure i read somewhere you could.
Biggest gain could be the food shopping if i can get it under control £180 may not seem a lot but for just me with OH for most evening meals im sure i can do better.
  • Is that 180 per month for just the two of you no kids??

most of the time yes :o
  • Hmmmmm that seems a bit steep imo me and that ex would spend 50 one week then do a 15 quid top up shop the next and repeat.

45 per week seems high for just two of you.

Maybe your OH could pay the bill every now and again if you are cooking for both of you. It is a bit unfair to expect you to pay all the time.

bit of a sore point there :( OH never has any money, he doesn't have any debt either but once he has covered his living costs (we dont live together) there doesnt seem to be anything left.
i earn more money, though its not a lot more and only because I have two jobs, so i guess he just lets me provide his meals etc. im as much to blame - i need to say NO.
  • Today is payday and this month is a 4 week one as the 28th (normal pay day) will be the bank holiday.

All bills normally fly out by DD on the 1st except my rent which get paid today.
Dont have a lot of outgoings, have trimmed these back to the bone in recent weeks -
    Rent 550
    Council Tax 86
Water 26 (metered - this high - sometimes have DS & Girlfriend for weeks at a time and
of course OH which pushed it up but is currently in credit).
    Dual Fuel 45.50
    Internet & Phone 39.99
    TV Licence 13.00
    Sim only contract 8.00
    Car Insurance 32.85
    Car Tax 16.18
Regular Saver 25.00 (this is to pay back a debt to my mum)
Debt payment 104.80 to payplan (i usually pay more but this is what its set at - doesnt take into
account my 2nd job as this is in theory not guaranteed (0 hour contract)

MOT just done, came in at just under £300 - didnt think that was bad for 10 year old car and i had the money saved so all good.

I did support my DS in his first year of uni which was quite expensive with flat deposits and general living costs but this year he has been able to fund himself - and not incur any debt other than the government loans.

    Things to do this month:

Pay for the holiday (daughters wedding so zero choice in this) - last of the balance transferred to ISA this morning.
Visit DS (at uni) as its his birthday this weekend - so fuel and bridge fees there plus food/drink.
Weeks holiday from work this month so lots of free stuff - walking etc.
Need a few cheap bits and pieces for holiday, vest tops, flip flops etc before all the winter stock arrives in the shops.
Find some shoes to wear for this wedding - on a beach - might just get fancy flip flops!
    Reign in the food budget.
Leave my debit card at home and just have what ive budgeted for with me then i cant find myself offering to pay all the time.

Some good news - in order to afford to go to this wedding i booked the cheapest flights with a stop over from an airport miles from my home. the holiday company have called to say that flights are no longer operating out of that airport and would i be okay transferring somewhere else - so now have much more expensive flights (better times etc) from an airport closer to home, at no extra cost :D
