Ceilings/wall lights buying?

Looking to move soon and will be getting a rewire on the house. Thought while this is being done it would be good opportunity to replace all the ceiling/wall lights while the electrician is there.

Where do people buy their lights from, preferably LEDs as they should last longer?

This ought to be in "In My Home" where the sparkies and other trades hang out.

A good electrician will source LEDs lamps for you, possibly at trade prices.

In theory, LEDS should last a hell of a long time, but my experience is that they don't all do so, even quite expensive ones. For example, my downlights come as complete, non serviceable units costing £25 each and they are guaranted to last ten years. In 2 years three have failed, so while they're replaced free, it's a faff obtaining new ones and fitting them.

You can buy normal light fittings and LED bulbs to go in them. Loads of LED GU10s on the market.

You can buy them from your local electrical retailer, or any DIY superstore of your choice. The bulbs can also be bought at any supermarket. The fittings can be bought at most homewares stores.

I bulk buy my GU10s on Amazon. Read the reviews though, and don't buy cheapest.
