I'm looking for recommendations of the best conversion sites to rip music from youtube to convert to mp3.

Haven't done it before, so not sure what to do

I don't think it's legal however you do it but it's probably less frowned upon if it's just for personal use and you don't do it a lot. You can download free software that converts video or audio from sites like YouTube assuming YouTube haven't tightened things up since I last did it. I Haven't done it for a long time so not sure what is best.
Have you considered a kodi build for accessing music you like as well as tv of course. Again not particularly legal.

I used a firefox add on to download and convert them to mp3, I remember it was easy to do but thats all I can remember.

Does any video converter also convert audio? Not sure as it's been a while since I logged onto my computer to check. It is good for video converting that's for sure and even if it doesn't convert audio I am sure they have various other free applications and one of them surely must convert audio.

I use a firefox addon that puts a "download mp3" button on the youtube page its-self.

it's a command line program but easy to use:

Their are other options, like only pulling down audio only or video only.
