Credit Score Hit

Options
Was wondering if this has happened to anyone else on the forum or can explain what has happened...

I used MSE to change gas/elec. providers to EON, however my credit score has fallen 19 points and the only change was EON doing a credit search and then providing me with the supply on monthly DD like I have always done with all suppliers.

No problems at all with CC, Mortgage, nothing... EON just say they have no control over credit scores. I am with ClearScore who use Experian,

Anybody experienced this before, are EON a bad choice to go with, it has not happened with the previous switches I have done through MSE.

Thx

Glenn

The credit score is meaningless marketing waffle. Lenders use their own criteria to credit score you based on your credit file, their previous experience with you and the details supplied on your application form. As long as your report shows no late payments, defaults, CCJs, etc, you should be fine. One search doesn't make too much difference. Also ClearScore use Equifax, not Experian.

That's unfixable. You'll need to leave the country and assume a new identity. That should reset the score.

    Possibly also get new fingerprints.

My "SCORE" plummeted because i bought something that was over 50% of my cards limit and paid it off in full when the statement arrived.

Now im pretty sure a lender will find that a bonus, a customer that buys something expensive and pays it off in full?

Only you and the provider of the score actually know what that number is. But until they start to offer loans then whats the point of it?

Why do people with a max score get refused loans? Answer = you dont need money to get a high score. If you really wanted you could manipulate the score to your advantage. But thats pointless because nobody else will see it.
