Nice Campsites with good facilities?

Does anyone recommend any campsites for a tent with very good facilities? e.g. nice washing up areas and showers etc, also with somewhere for our 9 year old to play with maybe a small shop for snacks. Within walking distance of a good pub with food too would be great - seems a tall order this !!

We are in Cheshire so somewhere not too far away - maybe as far as Wales, Scarborough and south to Herefordshire.

We are trying to plan a short break at May half term and also something for the summer hols.

Hope you can help!

Thanks.

    Hi Rabbit,
Have you looked on the UKcampsite website? they have hundreds of reviews of campsites, searchable by area etc. Sorry not got any personal recommendations, we're yet to go on our first trip...

Hi i'm trying my first camping trip this Thurs to Mon (& i'm a 5 star hotel girl)at a place called Shell island in Wales. I went here for a day last September it was brilliant. Has a pub, a cafe, a restaurant, shop, a fabulous beach with sand dunes, a lovely shower block. Have a look on the website. Wish me luck

    Hi debbiet

Thanks for your post about UK Campsite website, I'm just mooching on there now. Speedferries are great, we have used them twice and they've been fine. I would use them over the others now on principal as Curt Stavis is a brave man in my opinion and has done wonders for the ferry users. I would support them in the future as I think they offer a good value for money efficient service. Drinks are ok and are a reasonable price but certain foods a bit pricey. The slogan on the outside of the boat is ' Fight the Pirates' which I think is perfect! P & O are offering discounts now but too little too late!

    Hi,
Thanks for that, feel more confident now they've been recommended and for ££48 who am I to complain! My friend saw a documentary about the guy who owns it and said he was great.

Hope you find somewhere nice to camp!

    I've been there :j

It was lovely and MASSIVE!!! The only problem was that it was very windy and the sand goes everywhere :D

We went on the Queens Silver Jubilee weekend and it was so busy that they turned us away, we were just pitching our tent in a nearby field when the campsite woman came and found us to tell us that we could camp on the site. (hooray as we had driven for HOURS with a toddler)

It's a great campsite as it's all so spread out, the downside being that you can be miles from the loos. Also you can make proper campfires so take some firelighters with you and some BBQ stuff :)
Just run, run and keep on running!
