Severely limiting yourself to just buying stuff from the high street, means Mrs BoP will have to go to town for her goods lol.
Oh you got that wrong. BoPsie would be on the town, and it could be expensive!

When you placed your order, there should have been a confirmation page immediately before payment showing the total amount that you agreed to pay. Did that page show a price in Euro? If not, you are within your rights to raise a dispute since the Euro price that you were charged is clearly not the price that you agreed to pay.

I cant now find this out retrospectively - or can I?
Having shopped online for ever, I tend to click through quickly.

One thing I will say though is that I am familiar with shopping on non-uk websites, so I am used to changing the currency (using the flag symbol or whatever), but never have I had to change currency on a UK website.

It's a UK site, but it will still know when you are accessing it from a server outside the UK, unless you use a proxy server add- on in your browser. Just the same as, if you log on to Easyjet from France, then it will display the price in Euros by default.
The issue here is why it didn't display the price in Euros?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
