VW Polo 2015 6C facelift - front bumper repair

Hi,

Unfortunately, I had a low impact front collision in my VW Polo 2015 yesterday.

Does anyone have experience with bumper repair / replacements?

From the photos below, do you think I'll need a new bumper or could it be repaired? How much do local independent garages tend to charge for this work?

Thanks,

Looks like some damaged trim as well. Repair/replacement/repainting costs can vary widely depending on repairer. There are specialist bumper renovators around (one near Hitchin Railway Station if you're anywhere around that way) but you've still got the trim to fix. Could be expensive for the whole job. Maybe 3 estimates and consider insurance claim if it's too much?

Looks like most of it will just clip back where it came from, and leave a couple of tiny blemishes in the paint. If it was my money I'd clip it back and take no notice,

but if someone else is paying, or there is an insurance claim anyway, just take it to an approved repairer for a quote & fix
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

It looks to me as though the wing/bonnet/headlamp gap is out, I'd suspect further damage behind the bumper, best get a bodyshop look at it.

I agree that the head lights and bonnet look to have moved suggesting damage to the slam panel. There is also and impact bar that runs behind the section the number plate sits on which is likely to be bent.

Looks just like the damage you would get from rear ending another car at around 10mph. Given there is likely to be a third party claim just let your insurers deal with it that's what you pay them for.

I rather enthusiastically reversed my Megane 3 into a metal gatepost. The worst bit was the dent in the tailgate and creased bottom edge. The bumper sprang back into place leaving just a bit of a crease in it. That repaired OK, but as you say, the impact bar behind it got bent. The repairers would have been happy to leave it like that but as the mfr. part was £100 (not much in the overall cost) and very easy to replace I got them to do it.
