Fined while on garage forecourt!

Hello, we received a parking ticket from Euro at an Esso garage in Newington SE1 it included a nice shot of our car, now the weird thing is we were safely tucked up in bed at this time, had visited friends that evening in SE3 and our car was with us. Plus we have never driven our car in or anywhere near that area ever! I can only conclude someone is running a scam, we just received a letter from a debt collection agent. Cant get my head round this.

Mike, it would be a good idea for you to start a new thread specifically about your incident.

Posting on someone else's thread, especially one over a year old, can only lead to confusion.

In fact, thinking a little harder, it would be best if you deleted your above post and then create a new MSE login username - one which is totally anonymous.

For others' reference, I'd like to add that I had the same issue when using the air machine with a hire car at this garage, but got the parking charge cancelled quickly by contacting the owners (now Motor Fuel Group) using the contact form on their website.
They asked to see proof of purchase (I mentioned I'd also used the shop while there). Fortunately, I'd paid with a card and the statement was sufficient proof. I'm not sure how easy it would have been to have it cancelled had I only used the air machine.

Plan A is always best and we do receive reports from motorists who have successfully had cancellations when trying this approach.
