Free bus pass and driving ...

Options
A family member has asked me to find out if he can continue to use his free bus pass (to the expiry date) legally if he resumes driving again. I've googled, but can't find a clear answer. He won't be trying to renew the free pass, but is just wondering if he can use it 'til the expiry date for the odd bus trip.

Personally, I don't see how anyone would know, but he's keen to know the legality of it.

Can anyone help please?

As far as I know a bus pass has nothing to do with capability to drive, but if that worried phone the council that issued it.

You will need to contact your local council....The rules for bus passes differ.

I have a bus pass - and my council issued it because I have a medical condition that precludes my driving...if my condition (miraculously!!!) improved and I were able to drive, I would no longer qualify for the bus pass.

    So that makes it ok?

He needs to notify a change in his condition.

The reason he would got given the bus pass in the first place was because he lost his driving license. If he does get his license back and resumes driving he should ring his local council and report those changes.

I'm not saying "it's OK" ... only pointing out that no-one would know either way IMHO! My post is to try and find out the right thing to do.

Thanks all, I'll advise him to give the council a ring if/when he resumes driving again.
