Moved in-boiler not working-can we go back to seller?

We're first time buyers and have just moved into the property-it seems like the boiler has a fault and is not working. Not sure how easy it will be to fix!
Anyway, we didn't get a gas check done before moving in (in hindsight yes we should've done this!!) and when looking back on the form the seller has filled in-the question about the boiler being in good working order they haven't actually answered anything! Is this our fault for not picking up on this? Or can we go back to solicitor/estate agent/seller and query this? Thanks for your help!

Sorry, but the time to have to have queried this was when you received the property information form. You can take this up with your solicitor, but they will probably say that you were given the form to check the replies and should have brought anything untoward to their attention at the time.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

They didn't tick anything about it being in working order, they hoped you wouldn't see it and it worked.
Unfortunately nothing you can do, other than learn from it, move on and get it fixed.0 -
The sellers were in no way dishonest about the condition of the boiler.
You chose to ignore the PIF, and you alsso chose not to have the boiler inspected.
You're a home-owner now. The boiler is yours. Up to you to fix stuff when it breaks.0 -

At best they were sneaky, at worst they were right !!!!!! about it.
OP - you're going to have to chalk this one off to experience and pay for the repair/replacement. Sorry, but people just aren't very decent sometimes

Sorry to say but you have no comeback to the seller.
1. Not getting it checked yourself.
2. Seller not saying it is working bit left blank.0 -
It could have been working when the vendors left the property. How can you prove otherwise?
Things break, often at inconvenient moments.
A blank on the PIF probably meant something, but neither you nor your conveyancer took note.0 -

I'm assuming the SPIF form is blank regarding the question about the boiler?
Did the solicitor look through the SPIF? You could perhaps ask them why they did not highlight that this had been left blank, but ultimately it is your responsibility as a buyer to go through this form and question anything you need to.
We have a 32 year old boiler, but it had at least been serviced regularly so works.
Non working boilers are not necessarily a money pit. Find a good plumber and get them to take a look.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Any lights on it, is it switched on at the mains socket?0

When I moved into my house, I couldn't get the boiler working and when I discovered the manual, there were handwritten notes on where to find the gas isolation switch etc.
