Hi
I bought a gas on glass hob from AO back in October for the new kitchen. Well it's developed a fault. The manufacturer has sent a guy out, requested the parts, to which the manufacturer has said they no longer make those bits and told AO to issue a refund.
Now AO said to pick a new hob or get a refund. Regardless of which they want the old hob back. I'm not bothered by this but it's going to cost £85 to remove the old hob and put in the new. What are my rights regards that cost? As I've already paid the guy to fit it once. And it's not like it's an electrical appliance I could do myself.

CRA S23 (2):23 Right to repair or replacement
(2) If the consumer requires the trader to repair or replace the goods, the trader must—
(a) do so within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to the consumer, and
(b) bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage).0 -

Before you call AO tomorrow, there's something to bear in mind.
As the manufacturer has looked at the hob and asked AO to refund, it's likely that your refund or exchange is being provided as part of the manufacturers warranty. If this is the case then their warranty is entitled to state that the purchaser is responsible for any costs incurred in removing and refitting the appliance. (whether or not it does actually state this is something that I don't know).
The Consumer rights act that states that the retailer is responsible for those costs would only apply if you are claiming under your statutory rights.
In this case, the retailer doesn't have to provide a full refund as they can make a deduction to cover the 9 months use you have had from the hob.0 -

Can't find much out side of baumatic appliances are guaranteed for 12 months on parts and labour.

The other thing to bear in mind is that if AO are dealing with this under the CRA (although I suspect Shaun is right that it's warranty) they may decide to withdraw the offer of a replacement if you require them to also pay the installation costs, and even if that was a full refund you'd then have to pay your own installation costs for whatever you decide to buy as a replacement.0
