Hi All, very frustrated with British Gas!
Here is an extract from my report:
Utilities
BRITISH GAS TRADING
1 Months
BRITISH GAS TRADING
1 Months
BRITISH GAS TRADING
3 Months [Closed]
BRITISH GAS TRADING
8 Months [Closed]
BRITISH GAS TRADING
6 Months [Closed]
BRITISH GAS TRADING
7 Months [Closed]
These entries were caused by:
Switched to British Gas when moved into new flat (no mention of credit reporting)
A separate credit account appeared for gas and electricity supplies. I wasn't impressed.
Then switched supply to Sainsbury's energy, which i didn't know was a rebrand of BG, for a better tariff. I mentioned my annoyance at BG due to credit account reporting to the sales person and said it was part of the reason I wanted to switch. I said i didn't want any more credit accounts appearing on my credit report.
The original accounts closed, but then two new ones opened after the switch!! I complained to sainsburys energy I said i didn't want credit reporting and they said there was nothing they could do but they would give me a £10 credit as a "good will" gesture.
I then moved house but stayed with Sainsbury's energy, they closed the middle set of accounts, then opened another two accounts!! So 6 credit accounts opened in total, which has really hammered the average age of my accounts down to 24 months, one of Experian's score factors, when it was originally well above 33 months.
I have spoken with Experian who have made a request to BG to merge the 6 accounts into 2 but i doubt it will come to anything. Is there anything I can force BG to do to improve the situation? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Stop obsessing about Experian's score, no lender uses it, they don't see it. And those entries are not going to cause issues with borrowing either. You're getting in a flap about nothing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
