I'm waiting to exchange contracts on my house and am going into rented. I went bankrupt in 2009 and on looking at my credit file it is off my records but now I'm filling in the reference forms and they want to know if i have adverse credit history. Will they turn me down when I tell them?

That depends on their criteria.0

Hi alihud,
You need to read the question carefully. If it is asking you whether you have ever been bankrupt, you should declare it. However, if it is asking you whether you have had any problems in the last 6 years, this is no longer relevant, so just make sure you read the question carefully.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to say whether this would affect you getting the tenancy. Sometimes, private estate agents will ask for a guarantor or more rent up front if you are deemed a higher risk. Good luck,
Laura
