Strange tactics from debt collectors

Ok so a few years ago I was a victim of identity fraud, lets say my name is Joe Bloggs credit would be applied for under like "James Bloggs" or "James Blargs" i.e similar sounding names

I recieved a letter for lets say "James Blargs" today and knowing it was a name used by the identity thieves in past I opened it and it was from a company that said "We think this is where James Blargs lives, we have a matter to discuss with him, please contact us by email or text and we can tell you what this matter is" Or something like that as don't have letter in front of me.

One of course its not my name so im a little confused how at the time people could get credit with the wrong name and date of birth and just my address.

And not sure what to do now.
