Maras credit check for tenancy;what happens if you fail?

Was wondering if anyone has dealt with Maras before? My OH and I are looking to rent a property with Placefirst. Their full reference and credit checks are carried out by Maras. I know that we'll both pass the reference checks, however my hubby has a CCJ and will most likely fail the credit check
Does anyone know what happens in situations like these? Will maras suggest a guarantor or 6 months rent in advance? Or will it be a definite fail?
My hubby has had the ccj for 4 years apparently, I only just discovered it as I signed up to noddle! Our current landlord accepted us, he uses Belvoir to manage the letting, we've been renting for 3 and half years at the same address and have never had a late payment.

Maras merely generate a credit score and give a pass/fail to the landlord/letting agency. It is then the landlord/letting agencies decision as to whether they want to rent to you or not and whether they want a guarantor or upfront payment, Maras do nothing more than score the application and have nothing to do with that decision
A reference from a long term landlord will carry a lot of weight. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thank you for that, it's reassuring.. Hopefully placefirst will accept us with a good reference from our current landlord! :T0
