Bizzare Sky situation, any advice?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice please.

Last December I called to "cancel" sky as I was at the end of the contract, and it was going up to full price (following MSE's guide). I got a call offering me box sets for £9.50 a month and did the "I'll check with my partner". I called back to accept, but was told that there was no record of that call. After a lot of back and forward I was offered 40% off for 10 months, which I eventually accepted.

Last month, a new direct debit appeared on my bank account, for £9.50. We'd just had a new router sent, so I assumed it was the delivery charge, but it was collected again this month. So I called at the weekend to ask what this was for. After some time, they found a duplicate TV account - from December. This was the offer they had no record of. Apparently they have been re-crediting the account so that no direct debit was taken, but last month that didn't happen.

After 2 hours on the phone to retention, they have offered me my existing 40% off, my existing broadband at half price for 18 months, a £40 credit on my bill, and a new Sky+HD box. They're calling me back on Wednesday to confirm.

I tried to get the TV at the £9.50 I was promised, but they said they can only offer what is on the system - and that isn't an option. I asked about a free upgrade to Sky Q but they said if I do that I can only have 10% off (that is the most existing customers can get apparently).

I'm a bit miffed by this, do you guys think I should keep haggling, or should I accept what I have been offered? Is that really the best they can do?

My package comes to £54.79 a month all in (TV Box Sets, Line rental, £8 for unlimited calls, unlimited broadband). I see for £58 they are offering new customers the same but with Sky Q and fibre broadband.

When they say 'that's the best we can offer' it never is.

The fact that they have to credit your account £9.50 a month (manually by the sound of it) shows that it was (maybe not now for new customers) available on their system so they lied initially to you for a start.

For comparison I have Boxsets, ADSL & line rental (no calls package though) for £31.50 a month for the full 12 months (don't accept 10 month deals as they'll charge you full price for the last two).

My deal was obtained without ever having the service turned off as the wife would (probably quite literally) kill me.

Considering that they lied to you initially (and still are apparently) I would hold out for at least 60% (perhaps plus credit) with free BB (if ADSL) with you paying the line rental. That's a minimum I would accept given your experience.

Also try for a new 12 or 18 month contract at that price if it suits you. Otherwise you could try for a rolling monthly contract at the offer for 12 months.
