"Unfortunately Google playstore has stopped.."

Is the constant error message that appears on my wifes ancient Android 4.2.2 powered Galaxy tab 10
It appears to be something to do with the version of play store !!
I have tried all of the other options on page (such as clearing the cache)

Which points me towards

But which version should I try updating this old piece of kit to ?
at the moment - it is on 8.0.26.

Thanks - I think (hope !) that it is fixed
I ended up putting the google store back to factory settings and then letting it auto update
So far (touch plastic) no more error messages !!
