More than 9 months ago I ended my contract with Green Star Energy, I have just received a Final Bill, having spoken to them I was told that they can request a bill up to 12 months after termination!, obviously I am not happy with this delay, does anyone have some advice.

Look on the positive side. You presumably knew a final bill was due and roughly how much it was likely to be.
Assuming the bill does agree with your expectation, you've had the money in your bank (or wherever), instead of having to part with it 9 months ago.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. You might wish to remind them that it is a Condition of their Supply Licence that suppliers are required to produce Final Bills within 6 weeks of a transfer of supply. I think that this is also enshrined in EU law.
the relevant Condition is SLC 27.7
Quote: the licensee must take all REASONABLE steps to send a final bill to a domestic customer within six weeks of a supplier transfer or termination of the Domestic Supply Contract Unquote
I have capitalised the word reasonable as it can keep lawyers in money for years. None of the above means that the supplier will write off your Bill: it just means that you have grounds for complaint. You can also report the supplier for a breach of a SLC to consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.ukThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
