it relates only to a minority of transactions which require additional verification
But why Simon? How does this protect us? You haven't explained how it can
protect both our customers and our own position

Don't they use a credit referencing company? I've never been asked for such details and wouldn't give it to them. I don't care what 'Simon says' it is not typical and if I was asked for these details, I'd walk away. Never mind that it is offensive that they ask for them, the sheer inconvenience of having to provide them would outweigh any potential moneysaving of dealing with the company. Either they want you as a customer or they don't - I don't see why you, as a customer, should have to prat around jumping through hoops. There are a whole pile of retailers out there who will treat you with more respect! If someone said to me that I was one of 'a minority of transactions that require additional verification', I'd flipping well want to know why, in detail!

I've used Expansys for purchases both personal and business. I can pretty much say that there is nothing dodgy about the request. It's just a security check. If you are not happy go elsewhere, when I bought from them for business, they were the first supplier in the uk to have instock gsm pcmcia cards!

They have been around for a long time, and are reputable. If you are not happy, go elsewhere - it's your choice. I would probably be puzzled about it too, but if you can send them the details with the relevant bits blanked out, what's the harm? They are not asking for your security number or pin to update their records.........
    Waddle you do eh?
