I'm not sure if it's standard practice to have two entries, I'm still learning and trying to fix my credit worthy status. I defaulted on my Barclays credit card in 2012, however I have two entries on my credit report, both representative of the same account: one shows in Closed Accounts and the other in Defaulted Accounts. The entry in Closed Accounts shows the balance reducing but it's not the same case for the Defaulted Accounts entry.

There shouldn't be two entries for the same debt.
Edit: The one with barclaycard isn't a default though and since there are only a few days between them it's not going to make any difference.0 -
You can report any errors on your credit file online through whichever service you're using, they will contact the creditor advising of the error ask for a response and then it should be removed once they have replied.
If ou ever need to use that service, that is.

From ICO guidance:CRA Defaults - Recording of defaults relating to debts that have been sold.
The practice of selling/buying debts is widely used. As long as the information is correctly recorded on a credit file by the lender selling the debt and the lender buying the debt, then two entries relating to one account would not be considered to be a breach of the Data Protection Act provided that:-- both recorded entries are shown as being in relation to the same account/debt;
- the original debt entry should be shown on the credit file as being either ‘settled' or ‘zero' balance and should show that the debt has been ‘re-assigned’;
- the new DC who shows the debt in their name should maintain the original default date and the correct balances;
- the retention period for maintaining the information on a credit file should be based on the original default date regardless of who is responsible for the entry/debt

It's standard practice, all it does is show who the original company the default was with ( barclaycard) and who it has been transferred to collect the debt (hoist portfolio) your creditscore isn't being impacted by two defaults it will only be the most recent one, and barclaycard shouild have a flag on it that says debt assigned.0
