Hello 😀
I can’t believe the weekend is over, why do they go so quickly?😱. My new intention of getting everything ready for teaching the following week before I leave in Friday is working well though - it really takes the hassle away.
Today has been quiet. DD and DS have been for a visit which is always lovely, especially when OH is away. It’s nice to see them making their way in the world but I do miss them living at home ( don’t miss the mess though😂).
I’ve spent some time getting ready for the week ahead and the rest of the time doing things that I enjoy.
I’ve no financial news other than it’s been a NSD. However, I have done some thrifty things which will save me some money this week and beyond.
Today’s small steps included;
Took a coffee back to bed and read my book for an hour . I’m actually getting into it now 😀
Made a sourdough loaf and some rolls for us and a loaf for DD. I also made DS a cake for his lunchboxes this week.
Changed the bed and the dog’s beds
Made overnight oats to take to work for breakfasts this week.
Made Dhal and split pea and corn chowder with a bag I split peas I rediscovered when sorting out the pantry yesterday. The soup will be lunches this week and the Dhal is in the freezer for easy dinners.
Cleaned the house
Walked the dog
Watched a film
Had a nice, long bubble bath
Happy Sunday 😀

Hello 😀
I’ve made it through Monday, unlike half my colleagues. They are dropping like flies 😱. We are muddling through and helping out where we can. It’s a nice school and it’s times like this you really how nice. So back to juggling teaching, home learning and extra duties . Hey Ho!
My day has actually been quite nice, no issues, no drama. I’ve got a really nice class this year. I’m also enjoying planning two weeks ahead as it really takes the pressure off. I sometimes need to be flexible and jig things around a bit but on the whole, it’s working well.
I’ve no money news other than a NSD ( I’ve had 14 this month 😀). I’ve eaten healthily and haven’t snacked but I also couldn’t face any exercise after a long drive home in the dark and the fog. I’ve only got to fit three sessions a week in so I might just have to have a busy weekend 😂
I had a chat with my mum whose in hospital and isn’t allowed visitors. She’s been so good about it but I feel so sorry for her. It was nice to talk to her though and she was in good spirits under the circumstances.OH is away until tomorrow so it’s just me and the doggo and we are very much looking forward to him getting back 😀Today’s small steps to success included;
a good sleep
enjoyed my now well established routine of getting up a bit earlier so I get 20 minutes to sit and enjoy a coffee and a read of the news before I leave for work. I hate been rushed and it wrong foots me for the rest of the day. This works much better for me.
took lunch and coffee to work
marking up to date and everything is ready for tomorrow.
cheap, healthy eats ( overnight oats for breakfast, hm soup and a sourdough roll for lunch and baked potato and three bean chilli and salad for dinner). I’ve upped my breakfast and lunch game a bit as I was getting a bit fed up of porridge every day and always seemed to the same sort of soup! I really enjoyed them today. I tried a new soup - yellow split pea and corn chowder. It was yummy 🤤Had a nice, hot bath when I got home.
I’ve lit the fire and I’m going to finish off the film I started last night and then off to bed by 9.30 to read with my electric blanket on . I am so easily pleased 😂
Happy Monday 😀

Have you got the recipe for the chowder PP? I had a little Google after you mentioned it yesterday as it sounded good, but I wasn't blown away by those online so just wondered what you'd used?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I didn’t have fresh chilli so I used flakes and I didn’t have fresh ginger so I used ground. I also didn’t have coconut yogurt and I only had one tin of coconut milk which I needed for a curry so I just put about a 1/5 of a tin in and then thinned it down with milk ( I used oat). It was really nice and I’m not generally a huge fan of split peas but they needed using up! I’d definitely make it again xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Hello 😀
Where have the last two days gone?😱😂. This week is going so quickly!Work has been good but really busy, we are so short staffed. I’ve felt so tired in the evenings that I’ve not achieved much.I’ve not got much money news other than I filled the car with petrol and I bought a second hand book for £ 3.92 that’s part of a birthday present.
I’ve had some thrifty successes though as my use up continues. I almost called in at Aldi for salad bits tonight as the fridge offerings were not great but I didn’t 😇. Instead I made a weird coleslaw out of red and white cabbage (which was actually really nice) and just chopped up what ever was left and threw it in a bowl and it was ok! We had it with pasta bake using a hm pasta sauce from the freezer and a bit of lo cheese sauce that was also lurking in the freezer. Very little effort and it’s was really yummy and there’s two lunch portions left 😀
Other life wins included;
Two good sleeps
marking still up to date
Had chilli and hm tortillas from the freezer for dinner last night- there’s actually space in there now 😀
took coffee, breakfast and lunch to work
laundry is up to date
OH is home 😀😀
Happy Hump Day 😀

Your down time sounds really lovely PP, I keep meaning to read more and love it when I do. I just seem to get distracted by technology.I'm trying to be more plant based too, I actually love oat milk now after being a little worried I'd have to give up my decaf coffees.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!3

I do love my down time 😀. All those years of juggling raising kids, work and caring for my dad has made me really appreciate this season of my life. A bit of self care goes a long way !I hope you find time for some this weekend xxOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Hello 😀
Did I mention how much I love Fridays? 😂😂
I always wake so early , I think that’s just my body clock now, but on Friday mornings I get up, put my electric blanket on, sort out the dog, empty the dishwasher while I’m waiting for the coffee to brew and then hop back in for an hour! Sometimes I read, sometimes I plan my day or have a catch up on diaries and blogs that I enjoy. It’s bliss 😀
Today I would like to get all my domestics done as after missing two weekends due to covid isolation we are going to have a weekend staycation 😀. The weather is cold but dry so we are planning on two days of walking followed by nice, relaxed film nights and lots of reading. We are also off to DD’s for a roast on Sunday which will be a lovely end to the weekend.
So today’s plan of attack is;
stock take and meal plan
food shop (hopefully very small)
drop my car off to have it checked as a warning light has come on 😱
pop into town to get a birthday present, some 8 hour tealights and absolutely nothing else.
sort out an admin job with my new pension contribution
batch cook nice easy dinners for tonight and tomorrow plus extra for the freezer. If we’ve done a long walk I just like with a heat up dinner or something that can go in the sc.
sort out the fridge and turn contents into two picnic lunches
Clean the house
change the bed
put the laundry away
go for a run - I’ve done b***er all this week
walk the dog
Think that’s it!Hoping everyone has had a happy and thrifty week 😀
