Glass cracked above the oven (Splash back)

Hello

I am a tenant and I have issue in the kitchen.
There is a crack on the glass (Located above the oven) and it is suddenly happened. I don’t know why that crack occurred. The crack started from the socket plug corners. It is clearly that there is no sign of damage on the glass.

Can you explain to me in details why that crack occurred? As I need a good explanation in order to protect myself from landlord/agent blame.

I appreciate your help.

When I moved in the property, no one opened the socket before the crack started.
I called an electrical technician because I though there something wrong with the switch. He opened the socket and he didn’t find anything wrong with it. The switch working fine.

For a start, the socket is sitting on top of the glass, so any pressure is likely to crack the glass. Even the retaining screws done up tight would be enough. The glass should have been cut to fit around the sockets and radiused in the corners to limit any stress points where a crack might start.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Just heavy handed use - e.g. pushing a plug in too hard could be enough to cause that crack. Especially if the glass isn't properly fixed to the wall.
